#2 - Roscoe's Famous Deli

Great place to watch sports games!
When I walked through the entrance near the bar, I thought
the restaurant was going to be very small. But as soon as
I turned to my right, there it was, a huge, spacious dining area.
There are at least 6 TVs surrounding the room. I also spotted a
small stage. (I would like to find out if they play live music..)
The atmosphere of the restaurant was overall very relaxed
and laid back (granted, I went during the day..).
Great place to grab a beer and enjoy people and sports!

Next to the bar is the deli, where you can order your sandwiches.
They have a simple menu of sandwiches from turkey to
roast beef to pastrami, and everything in between.
I got to try the roast beef sandwich and Titan. The roast beef sandwich
looks exactly like the picture. The meat was a bit dry for my taste because
I usually like my roast beef hot and juicy. It usually comes with mayo spread
but I ordered horseradish instead. DEATHLY HORSERADISH!!!
I will probably never have horseradish there again..

Meet Titan. Hot turkey, swiss cheese, and hot pastrami on rye bread.
Because I like carved pastrami, like The Oinkster, instead of shredded
pastrami I don't really have an opinion about this sandwich. But I
will say that they're sandwich is big.. I smashed it down so
that I can actually bite into it.

I'm not a huge fan of sandwiches but I would go back
to Roscoe's for the laid back atmosphere and to watch games.

First on The Kitchen Social

After attending my friend's grad show at Pasadena Art Center, I decided to look for a local place to grab a quick bite. After a few minutes of searching on my iPhone, I came across The Oinkster (and I'm so glad I did!!).
I was doubtful when I saw a sign that looked out dated and looked like it came out of the 70s. But don't be fooled! Once I walked into the restaurant, it was bright, modern, and clean. They also had a nice outdoor patio area with heat lamps. I loved the wooden decor that makes you feel comfortable. I've noticed that about restaurants and cafés these days, they often use wooden decor to create an organic, comfy atmosphere.

The way you would order here is as if you're at a fast-food restaurant, but
they bring your food to the table you choose to sit. I walked up
to the register to order and pay. I placed my number on the table and
waited for my food to be delivered by the servers.

Here at The Oinkster. I got to try
The Royale (burger on top), Piggy Fries,
Oinkster Pastrami Sandwich, and Ube Shake.
First, I'd have to say that this is the best pastrami
I've tried so far. It had just the right amount of
saltiness, and boldness of black pepper.
The meat seemed as though it was freshly carved.
And it was so juicy!!

The Royale is basically a bacon cheeseburger
with pastrami and chili. The juiciness from the pastrami
brought out so much flavor of the burger. Patty may have been
on the drier side but the chili made it up.

Piggy Fries! Fries topped with caramelized onion,
homemade 1000 island, and shredded cheddar cheese.
It probably tastes exactly how you imagine it to be.

Oinkster Pastrami Sandwich.
Simple pastrami sandwich with red cabbage.
(I think about the pastrami and my mouth salivates!)

Last but definitely not least! My favorite, Ube Shake!!
Ube is tagalog for taro. Taro is a type of root vegetable.
I would compare is to the taste of sweet potato, but less sweet.
Ube shake actually has bits of taro in it which adds to
the texture of the shake. It can be a little too sweet
for some people but then you can share it with a friend!

Here is my first post to The Kitchen Social.
More to come!
